Our STORY
On five quiet acres in the Sapphire Coast hinterland, just beyond the village of Candelo, Ellington Grove rests beneath the dappled shade of twisted willow trees. Framed by towering eucalyptus and wide country skies, it feels as though it has always belonged here.
Three white chimneys rise above a timber exterior, sheltering a boutique country retreat inspired by the dreamy swing and effortless glamour of the 1920s and 30s.
Beyond the rustic iron gates, the landscape unfolds slowly. A narrow gully winds through rolling hills, where grasses shift with the breeze and fade into soft blue along the horizon. In spring, orchard trees stir to life; persimmon and stone fruit ripening quietly in the sun. From the terrace, glass in hand, you may find yourself wondering where home is, exactly.
Inside, deep hardwood floors and cool slate tiles stretch beneath pressed metal walls that glow in the firelight. Velvet lounges and Victorian armchairs invite long conversations and unhurried evenings, while two working fireplaces bring warmth to every room. French linen drapes each bed, promising a deeply restful sleep.
Designed with the Jazz Age in mind, Ellington Grove is both nostalgic and indulgent; a place to sip tea, or perhaps a gin martini, as shadows lengthen and the imagined rhythms of Duke Ellington drift softly through the air.
By day, wander the orchard, cook slow meals in the country kitchen, or stroll into Candelo for coffee, vintage finds, and local charm. By night, gather beside the outdoor fire pit beneath vast, star-filled skies, or sink into the outdoor bath as crickets begin their evening chorus.
There is no television here, only books, board games, birdsong, and the quiet luxury of time well spent.
Whether you come seeking romance, inspiration, or stillness, we hope Ellington Grove feels like a place you have always known.
